Elizabeth "Betty" A. Deater's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth A. “Betty” Deater, age 89, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020. She was born on July 20, 1930 in Casnovia, MI to Daniel and Elizabeth (Moreland) Lynch, and resided in the area her entire life. Betty worked as a private in home nurse until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was involved in the Boy and Girl Scouts. Betty enjoyed yoga and her step classes at The Omni, sewing, walking her dog, photography, traveling and most of all, her family. On March 26, 1954 she married Gerald L. Deater, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2014. SURVIVORS include four children, Rebecca Rudat of McBain, Michelle Curtis of Muskegon, Mark (Regina) Deater of Ravenna, and Tim (Billie) Deater of Newaygo; seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Dustin Rudat, Tonya (Mark) Drum, Jeanette Deater, Vincent Bennett, Brittney Deater, and Casey Deater; several great grandchildren; three brothers, John Lynch, Patrick (Gerry) Lynch, Michael (Beatrice) Lynch; sister, Agnes (Paul) Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was also preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Lynch, William Lynch, and Donald Lynch; sisters, Dorothy Wright, MaryLou Guendel, Cecilia Walcott; and son-in-law, Bill Curtis. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100.
