Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Howard Cooper's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Howard Cooper, age 86, passed away Sunday morning, August 31, 2014. She was born June 7, 1928 in Racine, WI to Maurice and Viola (Laboda) Jensen and had been a Muskegon area resident for most of her life. Betty earned her Associates Degree in Art Therapy from Grand Valley State University. She also owned and operated the Flower Patch for several years before retiring. Betty had belonged to Central United Methodist Church for many years, where she had taught Sunday School. She currently was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes. Betty was a loving, caring, creative, and religious person. In 1948 she married Raymond Howard and he preceded her in death in 1982. She then married Clare Cooper in Las Vegas, NV in March of 1992 and he survives her along with 3 children: Cindy (Bruce) Shepherd, Chris (Pam) Howard, Connie (Brian Czinder) Howard; 3 step-children: Brian (Amanda) Cooper, Holly Nelson, Heather (Ed) VanderPloeg; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Carol) Jensen; brother-in-law, Eugene LeRoux; sister-in-law, Pat Jensen; many nieces and nephews; and a long-time friend, Dee (Ted) Ankeny. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Lenore Keift, Marlene LeRoux; and a brother, Don Jensen. A CELEBRATION OF BETTY’S LIFE will take place 1:00 PM Monday, September 8, 2014 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565 with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Wagner officiating.
