Elizabeth "Betty" A. Sawyer's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Sawyer, age 77, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. Betty was born on January 4, 1937 to Clarence and Cora E. Thomason in Paducah, Kentucky. In November of 1963 she married Nossef “Whitey” Sawyer, a former sports editor for The Muskegon Chronicle, and he survives her. Betty was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was on the board of directors of the Kaydon Credit Union. She was employed as an administrative assistant at Kaydon Corp. for 12 years, was a licensed realtor, and was later employed at Webb Chemical for 10 years. Along with her husband, Whitey, Betty is survived by her children, Mary Beth (Bruce) Visniski of Muskegon, Michael (Elizabeth) Fitzpatrick of Ferndale, MI, Michele Fitzpatrick of Frankfort, KY and Shawn Fitzpatrick of Muskegon. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 26, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1100 Dykstra Rd., with Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Social Services.
