Elizabeth Sue "Libby" Chero's Obituary
Elizabeth Sue “Libby” Chero, age 77, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. She was born October 6, 1947, in Muncie, Indiana, to Charles and Mariada (Duesing) Kippenhan. She married Donald William Chero on May 3, 2005. Donald preceded her in death on July 6, 2008.
Elizabeth was Vice President of Amerisure and President of National Association of Credit Management Great Lakes. She also served as President of the national chapter of the National Association of Credit Management, where she received their Spirit Award in 2004. Elizabeth was a member of P.E.O. International (Philanthropic Education Organization) Chapter DS, supporting women in college and education. Her other interests were sewing, decorating everything, collecting glass shoes and thimbles, and belonged to the Book club and was a voracious reader. Libby also loved her cat, “Kitty”.
She is lovingly remembered by two sisters, Nancy (Jack) Grenan and Marianne (Louis) Walsh; nine nieces and nephews: Chuck Walsh, Edward (Allison) Walsh, Andrew (Amy) Walsh, Shaun (Sara) Grenan, James (Laura) Grenan, Christopher Turnblom, Kelly Grenan, and Katie (Aaron) Fischer; stepdaughter, Pam Matice; two step grandchildren, Kathy Matice and Jill Matice; and special friends of Don and Elizabeth, Dick and Suzie Ridderikhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, and step grandson, Kenny Matice.
A funeral service for Elizabeth will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials to P.E.O. International (Philanthropic Education Organization) are appreciated.
