Elizabeth E. "Betty" Hewitt's Obituary
Elizabeth E. “Betty” Hewitt, age 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. She was born November 12, 1926, in Rothbury, MI to Joseph and Jennie (Wybenga) Malda. On February 14, 1947, she married Willard Hewitt, and they were able to spend 68 years together before his passing on November 4, 2015. Betty was a floral designer for Muskegon Floral for over 20 years. She also spent some time as the librarian at Muskegon Christian School.
Betty enjoyed knitting and doing puzzles. She was an avid reader and particularly liked poetry. She and Willard enjoyed traveling and took several bus trips with their good friends, the Buthkers. Above all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children, Theodore (Darlene) Hewitt, Duane (Suzanne) Hewitt, Linda (Thomas) Mazurek, Vicki (Jeff) Botbyl, and Scott (Michele) Hewitt; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Along with her husband, Willard, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Malda; and brothers, John, William, and Benjamin Malda.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444), and VISITATION with the family 1 hour prior to the service.
