Elizabeth "Cookie" Hudson's Obituary
Elizabeth (Beth) “Cookie” Maxwell Hudson, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2024, in Twin Lake, MI. She was born March 4, 1955, in Norfolk, VA to Vernon and Virginia Anderson.
Beth, who was nicknamed "Cookie" by her Grandmother Maxwell, attended Wroxeter On Severn School in Arnold, Maryland for several years before transferring to Severn School (Severna Park, Md.) in 1971, the year Severn School went Co-ed. She excelled in Field Hockey & Lacrosse at the Varsity level. Cookie was loved by both upper & lower classmen at Severn which led to her being the first Homecoming Queen in the history of the school which was the source of a lot of lighthearted teasing from her brother Andy. After Severn School, she attended East Tennessee State for several years. She entered the professional workplace soon thereafter & worked for Morgan Scientific (Columbia, Md.) for many years before moving to the West Michigan area, where she worked for Security Steelcraft for nearly 34 years.
Beth loved playing many musical instruments and was very involved in the local ukulele group. She was also naturally attracted to water and had a love for swimming and sailing. Beth enjoyed being outdoors and loved animals, particularly her many golden retrievers and cats throughout the years.
Beth is survived by her brothers, Andy Anderson and James Anderson; her life partner's son, Torrey Horness and family; She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Anderson, Virginia Anderson and stepmother Rae Anderson; sister, Jinna Anderson; and life partner, Stanley Horness.
A Celebration of Beth’s life will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Unruly Brewing Company, 360 W Western Ave First Floor, Muskegon, MI 49440. First hour will be dining/lunch, then following will be an informal jam session, in memory of Beth.
Cremation has taken place by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services.
