Elizabeth M. Lund's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Lund, age 90, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 in Muskegon. She was born on August 18, 1932 to Edward and Alva (DeNise) Kurth in Camden, New Jersey. After graduating high school, Elizabeth attended Rutgers University where she received her bachelor’s degree. She continued her education at Smith College and obtained her master’s degree in Social Work. Elizabeth was a very strong-willed woman who decided she wanted to make her way west across the country on her own after graduation. While working in Detroit, she met Carl Lund and the two were married on October 21, 1960. They eventually came to West Michigan where they raised their two daughters, Jenni and Kristen. Elizabeth enjoyed talking to anybody around her and telling stories, as well as playing bingo and crocheting hundreds of afghans for veterans. She loved traveling around the United States and Canada with Carl and exploring new places to visit and eat. Elizabeth will be missed by her daughters, Jenni (Randall) Bowen, Muskegon and Kristen Lund, Traverse City, MI; grandchildren, Andrew (Molly) Bowen, Holland, MI and Anna (Everett) Parks, Portland, OR; sister, Emma Harley; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends and “bingo buddies.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; siblings, Edward Kurth and Alva Herman; parents; and naughty cat, Hattie. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, March 17 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with luncheon to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Burial to take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The Family would like to thank Faith, Deb, and Phyllis from Day Spring for their wonderful care, help, and love for Elizabeth, the Muskegon Township Fire Department for their excellent care for both Elizabeth and Carl over the years, and Jeannie T. for making sure Elizabeth never missed a bingo night. Memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to Big Lake Humane Society or Noah Project. Please feel free to share a memory with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com.
