Elizabeth M. Meisch's Obituary
Elizabeth Marie Meisch, age 43, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. She was born August 19, 1978 in Muskegon to Jerry and Carol (Fraser) Meisch. Elizabeth is survived by her parents; brother, Christopher Meisch; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Meisch in 2019; beloved family friend, Dawn Hiemstra; grandparents: James C. and Barbara J. (Somers) Fraser, Jr.; grandmother, Thressa Sikkenga Meisch Clover; uncles: Nicholas J. Fraser, Richard L. Meisch, David C. Meisch, and Robert Fairris; and an aunt, Veronica (Fraser) Fairris. Elizabeth graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1997 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. She was a social worker, case manager, and an admissions advisor. Elizabeth loved people and had a natural gift, both professionally and personally, that helped put people at ease. But Elizabeth had a cruel and unforgiving monster that she struggled with on a daily basis, a monster called ALCOHOLISM. Alcohol addiction is an illness, and contrary to what many people think, they don’t realize that it isn’t something you can easily stop. She tried so hard many, many times. She hated when she gave in to it, and we learned that no amount of love, prayers, or yelling made her stop. Not only does it destroy the alcoholic, but also the people who loved her. Her AA family were very important to her; they gave her the strength and support to keep on trying. We are grateful that her AA family was there for her, but as we saw how it affected her health, we realized that her body could take only so much abuse before it broke down and crashed. We know she is in a better place and finally at peace, but it is so hard for the ones left behind. So please, remember to treasure the people you care about, don’t take for granted that they will always be with us and don’t forget to LOVE YOURSELF. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 4-7 PM at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231) 759-8565. Memorials to the Greater Muskegon Alano Club (2743 Henry St.), Heaven Can Wait Retail Store (1639 W.
