Elizabeth M. VanNoordwyk's Obituary
Elizabeth Mae VanNoordwyk, age 97, passed away in Norton Shores, MI, on Friday, May 19, 2023. Elizabeth was born in Muskegon Heights, MI, on October 27, 1925, to Ralph A. Cincush and Ida V. Johnson. On January 16, 1946, she married William L. VanNoordwyk, and they spent 57 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 2003. Elizabeth’s faith was very important to her, and she was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for 66 years, where she served in the Ladies Guild for many years. She enjoyed sewing and was a 4-H leader for a while, teaching many children how to sew over the years. Elizabeth was a social person who liked to keep busy and stay active. In her younger years she enjoyed riding her bike, but more recently she liked playing cards with friends at church and tending to her flower garden. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Minda Smith and Emily (Ronald) DeVries; six grandchildren: Richard Wilson, Timothy (Trudy) Wilson, Mark (Brandi) Smith, Mellisa (Scott) Steinhauer, Daniel (Kathy) DeVries, and Jeffry (Beth) DeVries; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Deephouse; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ida Cincush; husband, William VanNoordwyk; four siblings: Ida Ashcroft, Irene Chappell, Doris Achman, and Ralph Cincush; and son in-law, Mark Smith. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place for Elizabeth at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 24, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4475 Henry St, Norton Shores, MI, 49441, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior starting at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church or to Careline Hospice.
