Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dyer's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth A. “Betty” Dyer, age 85, was called to be with her Lord, Friday morning, April 9, 2010. She was born August 13, 1924 in Muskegon Heights to Leendert and Aartje (Nummerdor) DeWaal. Betty later was adopted by Cornelius and Grietje VanderStelt and grew up and raised a family in Muskegon Heights before moving to Grand Haven in 1981. Mrs. Dyer owned and operated her own beauty salon on Airline Rd. for over 30 years before retiring. After retirement, she spent many hours baking her poppy seed bread for the enjoyment of others. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Grand Haven. On June 21, 1946 she married Charles F. Dyer in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1980. SURVIVORS include her son, Ted (Mollie Plummer) Dyer; daughter, Pam (Bob, Jr.) DeLong both of Grand Haven; and her granddaughter, Kara (Jon) Duncan of Allendale. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine DeHeer. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Hope Reformed Church, 14932 Mercury Drive,Grand Haven with the Rev. Arnold VanBeek officiating. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to the Hope Reformed Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
