Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Gardner's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Gardner, age 81, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday morning, January 4, 2011at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Betty was born September 30, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, IA to William and Maggie (Kuipers) Lammers. She was married to Robert Gardner and he preceded her in death in 1970. Betty had worked as a medical secretary at Hackley Hospital for 35 years prior to her retirement in 1992. She continued to work for several more years as church secretary at Bethany Christian Reformed Church. Betty was a long time member of Bethany Church where she was a member of Women’s Fellowship and Intermediate Club. Betty had also sung in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served as a deacon in the church. She also mentored children in the friendship reading group. Betty is survived by her children, Shelley (John) Armstrong of Muskegon and Kevin (Laurie) Bosch of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a half-sister, Alice Lammers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2 PM Friday, January 7, 2011, at Bethany Christian Reformed Church (1105 Terrace). VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (1-2 PM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the family. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
