Elizabeth "Betty" Bennink's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Bennink, age 84, of Grand Haven passed away March 17, 2012. She was born November 25, 1927 in Grand Haven Township to Charles and Martha (Johannes) Parchert.
She attended the old Bignell School on Ferris Street graduating in 1941. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1945 and from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Chicago in 1949. She continued her post graduate studies until retirement from nursing in 1989.
She married Howard E. Bennink, a local barber on April 26, 1952 and together they had 3 children. They loved to dance and traveled over much of the U.S. in their van camper. Howard passed away December 21, 2008.
She was an active member of St. Peters Church in G.H. Township and later at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Grand Haven.
She is survived by her children: Howard (Daphne) Bennink, Jr, Roy (Sally) Bennink and Amy (Daniel) Jastrzembski; 7 grandchildren: Todd Jastrzembski, Travis Bennink, Brenton Bennink, Dylan Bennink, Tristan Bennink, Echo Bennink and Julian Bennink; 1 great-granddaughter, Jasmin Bennink. She is also survived by brother, Karl Parchert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Parchert; grandson, Karl Jastrzembski; sister, Edna McCarthy; and brother, Henry Parchert.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Jim Foster officiating. Visitation will take place 1 hour before the service. Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
