Ella Leutscher's Obituary
Ella Leutscher, age 95, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was born in Reeman to David and Minnie (Van Goor) Wyngarden on September 27, 1918. On September 24, 1940 she married James Leutscher and they shared 67 years together until Jim’s death on July 3, 2008. They were members of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church and most recently Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church. Ella worked many years as a cook at Western Michigan Christian High School and with it’s Banquet Fundraising Committee. Flower and vegetable gardening were a favorite of hers. She was known for her love of baking, especially chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cupcakes and pies. She loved picking blueberries, strawberries and she was a huge baseball fan. Above all, she loved being with family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her. She is survived by her children, Ken (Alana) Leutscher, Louise Slager, Dean Leutscher, Rita (Brad) King, their grandchildren, Jeff (Mary) Leutscher, Hilary Hysell, Chad (Corey) Leutscher, Jason Slager, Crystal (Scoot-Larry) Zandvliet, Holly King, Bradley King, her great-grandchildren: Josh Leutscher, Katie Leutscher, Toby Leutscher, Arden Hysell, Emma Hysell, Jennifer Slager, Seth Zandvliet, Noah King, Taylor King; a brother-in-law, James Haveman, and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Wyngarden and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Allen Dean Leutscher, a son-in-law, Bud Slager; 2 brothers, Raymond (Arlene) Wyngarden and Willis Wyngarden; 3 sisters, Jean (Carl) Anderson, Margaret (Henry) Poll and Helen Haveman. Ella’s family gives a warm thank you to Harbor Hospice for their loving care. VISITATION with Ella’s family will be 3-6PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with SERVICES 2:00 PM Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Lee Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
