Ellen Middlebrook Herron's Obituary
Ellen Middlebrook Herron, age 43, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at home. She was born October 22, 1968 in Lansing, Michigan.
Ellen was known as an educator, researcher, scholar, musician, and also as the most nonjudgmental person ever, who was very caring and loving. She graduated phi beta kappa from the University of Michigan and Western Michigan University, and she was awarded a scholarship to study at Oxford University for a year. Ellen had worked as a curator for the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibits and was also a curator of rare books and special collections.
She is survived by her parents, Lynn and Nancy Middlebrook; 1 brother, Jeffrey Middlebrook; and nephew, Joshua Middlebrook; aunts: Barbara, Patricia and Sandra; cousins: Cheryl, Laura, Brian, Jeanne, Karen and Diane; and her best friend, Seamus.
A Memorial Service for Ellen will be 2:30 PM Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. John’s Episcopal Church with The Very Rev. Jared C. Cramer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 PM and also following the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ellen may be given to Planned Parenthood, the food pantry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Harbor Humane Society, Women in Transition, or the Salvation Army.
