Ellen Frances Brehm's Obituary
Mrs. Ellen Frances Brehm, age 93, passed away early Friday morning, February 27, 2009. She was born March 20, 1915, in Cadillac, MI, to William and Emma (Beer) Shafer. In 1934 Ellen married Harry E. Brehm in Cadillac, MI, and he preceded her in death. She resided in the Muskegon area for over 60 years, loving long walks and a good book. She was retired from Hackley Hospital, having worked many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Ellen was a charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was active in church activities in her earlier years. She is SURVIVED by her 2 sons, Donald L. (Mitzie) Brehm of Hastings, MI and Ronald Brehm of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Heinzelman of Grand Rapids, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ellen was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Copley and 2 brothers, Ervin and Earl Shafer. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1 PM Monday, March 2, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave 231-726 -5210 with Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 PM and Monday, one hour prior to the service (12 noon-1PM), at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
