Ellyn J. Keur's Obituary
Ellyn Jane Keur, 75, passed away in Grand Rapids, MI, on Sunday, November 16, 2025. She was born to John and Thelma (Hampshire) Adams in Jersey City, NJ, on June 7, 1950. Ellyn was the first woman to graduate from Western Michigan University’s PA program, and she went on to work as a PA for 27 years at Butterworth Hospital. On May 2, 1987, she married Jon Keur, and the two of them spent 38 wonderful years together. Ellyn’s faith was very important to her, and for the last 13 years she was a member at New Community Church. She loved music, especially playing the hammered dulcimer. She was part of a group of musicians who regularly played together, even attending and playing at the Evart Funfest Music Festival every year. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, and biking. She volunteered for many years at the food pantry with North End Community Ministry, and had a deep love for animals, especially her many cats over the years. More than anything she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Ellyn will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jon Keur; five children: Daniel (Christy) Keur, Dora (Robert) Scholten, David (Jayne) Keur, Andrew Keur, and Kayla Keur; 10 grandchildren; and three brothers: John (Holly) Adams, Doug (Deb) Adams, and Tom (Amy) Adams. She was preceded in death by both her parents.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Ellyn at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49505, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the North End Community Ministry or the Parkinson’s Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
