Elma "Ole'" Ferguson's Obituary
Elma “Ole” June Ferguson, age 94, passed away in Grand Haven, MI, on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Elma was born in Bridgeton, MI, on June 11, 1930, to Walter and Georgia (Teegardin) Zellar. On June 19, 1948, she married George Ferguson, and the two of them spent 65 wonderful years building a family together until he preceded her in death in 2014. Elma had an appreciation for birds and flowers, and she loved spending time in her garden. She was very crafty, especially when it came to sewing and ceramics. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling and camping with George as part of the Travel Trailer Club of Michigan, and she loved to fill her time by working on jigsaw puzzles. Elma loved to talk and could always be counted on to speak her mind, but she was sociable and loved to chat with anyone she could.
Elma will be lovingly remembered by three children: Dale (Mary Lou) Ferguson, Darlene Smith, and Dyana (Michael) Gronback; son in-law, Vern Borgman; seven grandchildren: Bradley (Juli) Borgman, Jene’ (Jason) Grimm, Cathryn (Justin) Kitchka, Christine (Sam) Bitson, Nichole (Brian) McGowan, Melissa (Roye) Allen, and Mikayla Gronback; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Georgia Zellar; husband, George Ferguson; daughter, Joyce Borgman; son in-law, Michael Smith; and her siblings.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Elma at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444. VISITATION will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, as well as an hour prior to the funeral.
