Elmer J. "Skip" Belanger's Obituary
Mr. Elmer J. Belanger, age 89, passed away on November 9. 2012 at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility in Muskegon. He was born on December 23, 1922 to Jerry and Phlemone (LaCross) Belanger in Lake Leelanau, MI. Prior to his retirement in 1980, Skip worked as a truck driver for 26 years for AC Carriers. He was member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where he was an usher and worked as a groundskeeper for 15 years after his retirement. Skip was an animal lover; he raised and trained horses, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for his joking and laughter. On April 15, 1944, he married Elsie Kolarik in Flint, MI and she survives him along with one daughter, Gloria J. Bromley of Ravenna, MI; 2 grandchildren, Morgan (Sarah) Mirkle and Jennifer Mirkle; 2 great-grandchildren, Fisher and Bowdon; brother, Joseph (Violet) Belanger. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place 11:00AM Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5-7 PM on Monday at The Sytsema Chapel 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 Burial will take place at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Ravenna.
