Elmer H. Lindback's Obituary
Mr. Elmer H. Lindback, age 89, passed away July 17, 2012 at Knollview Nursing Home. He was born on September 2, 1922 to Carl “Jeff” and Anna (Pfenning) Lindback in Muskegon, MI. Elmer was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a DAV, serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Pacific Theater and was a part of the Red Arrow 32nd Division. Elmer worked 25 years as the supervisor at Grabman Roofing and Sheet Metal in Grand Haven retiring around 1985. He was a proud 50 year member of the Vikings having helped in building the current facility and was a member of the M-Club. Elmer played multiple sports growing up. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. On February 3, 1945 he married, Maxine “Mickey” Nelson, his wife of 67 years and she survives him along with 4 children, Robert (Karen) Lindback, Jeffery Lindback, Doris Yerkie and Sue (George) Weissflog; 4 grandchildren, Chris (Brian) Stevenson, Tom (Shoane), Jeffie, and Angela; 5 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Emily, Andrea, Ryan and Michael. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles “Jack” Lindback. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2012 at The Walburn Chapel 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.(10:00 – 11:00AM) Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to Viking Scholarship Fund.
