Elmer "Bud" Ramsey's Obituary
Elmer "Bud" Ramsey Jr. tragically passed away October 8th 2025 due to complications of a massive stroke. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing at Trinity Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan.
Bud was born on January 25th, 1948, to Elmer and Danielle Ramsey in Detroit, Michigan. Bud grew up playing street hockey and being a Boy Scout, eventually rising to the level of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and aunts and uncles in Michigan, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Bud would make frequent trips to west Michigan with his best friend, Allen and Allen’s dad to go hunting and fishing. He soon fell in love with western Michigan and decided to move to the Montague area.
On June 21st,1997 he married the love of his life Lisa Ramsey. With every challenge that came their way, they got through it together.
After obtaining his master diving certification, Bud spent a portion of his life instructing scuba diving in the Cayman Islands. He also enjoyed spending time diving in various Caribbean Islands and enjoying each island’s unique culture. Bud returned home and joined the Muskegon Sheriff’s Dive Team for a few years.
Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to share smoked salmon that he would catch from Lake Michigan. He also loved to take hunting trips to Wyoming with his friends as well as hunt on his father-in-law’s property. As his health declined his new passions turned towards watching western movies, listening to audio books, and sitting on the back deck to watch the wildlife.
Bud will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lisa Ramsey; daughter, Brianna Ramsey; grandson, Silas Michaels; father in-law, Samuel Easterly; brother in-law, Mark (Tina) Easterly; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends and family. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
A Memorial Service will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442, with Visitation taking place an hour prior.
