Eloise Marie Maple's Obituary
Mrs. Eloise Maple, age 88, passed away Sunday morning, December 20, 2009, at North Crest Living Center. Eloise was born November 1, 1921, in Flint, Michigan to Horatio and Lulu (Ginder) Pyne. On January 5, 1946 she married Marion “Mike” Maple in Rockford, Michigan, and they were married for 44 years prior to his death on February 14, 1990. Eloise attended Western Michigan University Teachers College in Kalamazoo. Over the years Eloise had worked as a book keeper, and as office manager for Campeau, Mullally and Meier. She later served as office manager for Senior Services in 1979, then becoming Senior Services Director in 1987, and held that position until her retirement in 1993. She was the 2nd President of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW #8846-Don Rea Post, and was active in the Baker School PTA. Eloise was affectionately known as “Ma Maple” or “G-Ma” to many close friends and family. Eloise is survived by her 6 children, Suzanne (Barry Wallace) Maple of Florida, “Mick” Michael (Kathy) Maple of Zephyr Hills, FL, Patrick (Patti) Maple of Muskegon, Debra Ashcom of Rothbury, Pamela (Jeffery) Guy of Muskegon, and Dorene (Jerry) Maple-Emerson of Montague; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren,(and 1 on the way); 2 brothers, Jeep Pyne of Zephyr Hills, FL, and Ronald (Julie) Pyne of Rockford, MI; 2 sisters, Marion Anderson of Howard City, MI, and Doreen McFall of Zephyr Hills, FL; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Pyne of Zephyr Hills, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Clayton Pyne, and a brother-in-law, Richard Anderson. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11AM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Pastor Gerald Hagans officiating. VISITATION with the family will be Tuesday from 4-7PM and one hour prior (10-11AM) to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or Harbor Hospice.
