Elsie Pitts' Obituary
Elsie Pitts, age 97, of Grand Haven, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018. She was born in Järved, Sweden to Emil and Hedvig (Olsen) Odmark and moved to the United States in 1929. On March 5, 1949 she married William Pitts in South Bend, IN and he preceded her in death in 1978.
Elsie enjoyed staying active, she was a ballroom dancer, bowler, and a Detroit Tigers fan. She also was a very talented artist and enjoyed traveling and shopping, most of all she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.
She is lovingly remembered by three children: Scott (Ginny) Pitts of Spring Lake, Doug (Suzanne) Pitts of North Muskegon, and Barbara (Jim) Forrest of Grand Haven; five grandchildren: Sarah (Matt) Magdic, Karlene (Matt) Hantle, Karen Pitts, Suzanne (Dave) Knoll, and Kelly (Jeff) Gannon; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Odmark, and companion and friend Ralph Mapes.
A memorial service will take place 1:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave.). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
