Elton “Al” Ashburn, age 85, passed away surrounded by his family on June 24, 2014. Al was born on June 28, 1928 to Walter and Alda Ashburn. In 1948 he married the former Beatrice Epplett and together they were blessed with 5 children. Al worked for Verizon for 34 years before retiring in 1982. In 2013 he lost his wife after over 60 years of marriage. He will be deeply missed. He is SURVIVED by his 4 children, Richard, Ronald, and Douglas Ashburn, and Barbara Lidke; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; former daughter in law Debra Ashburn; sister Dorothy Hall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice; son John; parents; sister Marion Nelson; and brother .Walter (Red) Ashburn In accordance with the families wishes there will be no services for Al.
