Emanuel "Manny" Harwood's Obituary
Emanuel “Manny” Harwood, age 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 12, 1941 to Edward and Herlinda (Rodriguez) Harwood. Manny served his country in the U.S. Army and later in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant. Manny graduated with a degree in criminal justice from Western Michigan University and had been employed with the City of Muskegon as a police lieutenant until his retirement in 1997. Manny loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and enjoyed summer cook-outs. He always had a smile on his face and was friendly with everyone he met. Manny married Brenda and she survives him along with his children, Armando “Richard” Harwood, Michelle (Stacey) Patulski, Kristi (Ross McCloskey) Gregg, Brian (Lisa) Harwood, Daniel (Elizabeth) Harwood and David Harwood; 12 grandchildren, Abby, Ginny, Alyssa, Mason, Ally, Lauren, Karli, Carson, Owen, Jack, Kellen, Karter; two brothers and his loyal dogs Molly and Indy. Manny was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Lisa. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be 11:00 AM, Friday, January 31, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church (3225 Roosevelt Rd, Muskegon, MI 49441) with Pastor Paul Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will take place 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation, 6291 S. Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 and one hour prior to the service at church. In honor of granddaughter Lauren’s journey, memorials can be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
