Emma Nelson's Obituary
Ms. Emma Nelson, age 87, departed this life and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in Muskegon Michigan. Emma was born on March 22, 1933 to Eveline Mitchell and Raymond Anderson in West Memphis, Arkansas. She attended Muskegon Public Schools in Muskegon, MI. Emma accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership Pastor Fritz, and later reunited with New Liberty COGIC, with Elder Willie J Foster and joined Emmanuel Tabernacle COGIC, with Elder Andre McClanahan where she was a member until her health failed. She enjoyed crosswords puzzles, crocheting, attending church services and being around his family who he had a deep love for, especially her church family. Emma leaves to cherish in memories her daughter, Cherin McGee; beloved brother, Raymond Anderson, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; a host of cousins, relatives and friends; Emma was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Josephine King; brother, Michael Anderson; daughter Evelyn Nelson; and granddaughter, Lonnisha Nelson. A VISITATION for Emma will be held from 4-8 PM Monday, November 9, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, Michigan 49442, (231) 726-5210. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral home is allowed 50 guests in the building at a time. As people pay their respects to the family and exit the building, more guests will be allowed in. Masks will be required. A CELEBRATION OF EMMA’S LIFE will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Fresh Anointing COGIC, 1121 Jefferson St, Muskegon, MI 49440 with Elder Andre McClanahan, officiating.
