Emma J. Olson's Obituary
Emma J. Olson, age 94, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born March 20, 1925 in Muskegon to John and Selma (Schwuchow) Workman and was a life resident. On September 30, 1949, she married Paul E. Olson and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage before he passed away on May 21, 2009. Emma was a proud homemaker but later worked at Muskegon Public Schools retiring in 1987. She was a long-time member of Samuel Lutheran Church. Emma was a talented baker and enjoyed gardening. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Emma loved to watch the sunsets at Lake Michigan. Survivors include 6 children, Nancy Peck, Kathy (Chip) Furst, Larry (Lori) Olson, Ron (Mary Kay) Olson, Sharon (Bob) Bush, Brian (Lisa) Olson; 17 grandchildren, Eric (Tracy) Peck, Denise (Gilbert) Villasenor, Allison (Chris) Brackins, Chip Furst, Adam Furst, Megan (Jon) Crepeau, Matt (Ashley) Olson, Michele Olson, Kali (Marcus) DePaolo, Chad (Laura) Olson, Kyle Olson, Jim (Danielle) Bush, David (Kristen) Bush, Stefanie (Grant) Zylstra, Jacob Bush, Sam Olson, Ellen Olson; 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon & Ryan Peck, Karina & Linnea Villasenor, Quinn & Julien Crepeau, Emma & Dylan Olson, Elliot Olson, Lucas, Landon & Levi Bush, and Emma Bush; her sister, Betty Cota; and niece, Karen (Dave) Glick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Olson, her son-in-law, Bruce Peck, her granddaughter, Sarah Peck, her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service, 10-11AM Tuesday. Interment will take place at Norton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Samuel Lutheran Church, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, or the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
