Emmitt "Junie" Kinsey Jr.'s Obituary
Emmitt “Junie” Kinsey Jr., age 62, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was born on December 8, 1962, to Emmitt Sr. and Janie Kinsey in Muskegon, MI, where he remained a lifelong resident. Emmitt graduated from Muskegon High School with the Class of 1980. Junie served his community through his work at the Muskegon Regional Center. He then dedicated 15 years of service to E.C. Brooks Correctional Facility, later, pursuing his career at Baker College, working in security. Emmitt had a flair for fashion and a true passion for shopping taking great pride in his personal style. A lover of cars, he especially favored Cadillacs. He was a naturally gifted musician, playing the piano beautifully and was known most for his singing voice. He was also a true jack-of-all-trades—always generous with his time and ready to lend a hand. Emmitt was a charismatic, genuine soul, known for his vibrant personality, quick wit, and just the right amount of feistiness. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his three daughters, Brittany Kinsey, Emari Kinsey and Kiera Kinsey; two grandchildren, Jay’Vion Webb and Kiari Joyner; two sisters, Carolyn Bates and Patricia Musgrove; brother, Rodney (Gloria) Clark; mother of his children, Daphynne Kinsey; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt (Janie) Kinsey Sr.; two sisters, Joyce Cherry and Marsha Sargent; three brothers, Earnest Kinsey, Donnie “Fly” Kinsey and Rickey “Skip” Kinsey; paternal grandparents, Louis (Littie Ann) Kinsey; and maternal grandparents, Fannie (Henry) Thomas and Marshall Lewis. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S.
