Erika K. Richardson's Obituary
Erika K. Richardson, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was born on June 21, 1940, to Joseph and Katharina (Steinfelder) Ludwig in Bamberg, Germany before making her way to Muskegon in 1975. She dedicated most of her life working as both a home health aide and a certified nurse’s assistant (CNA), providing care and compassion for the many patients she served. On June 1, 1985, she married George Richardson in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 30 years full of love and laughter. Erika was blessed with a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her garden tending to her flowers. In her earlier years, she enjoyed knitting socks and blankets. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Erika will always be remembered for speaking her mind and how proud she was of her German heritage! She was a loving woman who will be missed by many. She is survived by her three children, Paul (Gina) Kittle, Tommy (Julie) Kittle and Debra (Larry) Benson; six grandchildren, Ryan (Amy Spring) Kittle, Brandon (Jody) Kittle, David (Jamila) Benson, Kyle Benson, Bryce Benson and Raelynn Snell; seven great-grandchildren; special niece, Karin; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family in Germany; and dear friend of 40 years and birthday twin, Ethel Rutherford. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Richardson; daughter, Dorris Kittle Boes; granddaughter, Kayla Juusela; two sisters; and two brothers.
