Mr. Ernest H. Alderink's Obituary
Mr. Ernest H. Alderink, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2012, at the Poppen House, with his family at his side. Ernie was born April 15, 1923 in Shelby, MI to Herman and Bertha (Wickstra) Alderink; and had resided in the Muskegon area the past 60 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving 14 months in the European Theater. He was a member of VFW Post #446. Ernie had been a machinist at Bennett Pumps for 30 years; and had been employed as an evening attendant at the Walburn Chapel for 37 years, prior to retiring in 1988. On November 22, 1946 he married the former Isabella R. Wissner and she survives him along with 4 sons, Larry (Barbara) of Saline, MI, Thomas (Diane) of Muskegon, James (Katherine) of Battle Creek and Charles (Michelle) of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Erik (Sue) Alderink, Kimberly (Michael) Nardi, Michael Alderink, Michelle (David) Bates, Mary Alderink, Matthew Alderink, Daniel Alderink and Eric Alderink; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother-in-law, Earl Wissner. He was preceded in death by his brother, Peter; and sister, Jeannette VanderNaalt. A MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held from 1-3PM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Community Room of Park Terrace (1290 W.
