Mr. Ernest W. McClatchy's Obituary
Mr. Ernest W. McClatchy, 77, passed away Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at his home in Muskegon. He was born January 27, 1937 to Ernest N. and Sophia M. McClatchy in Ludington, and lived almost all of his life in the Muskegon area. He had worked at Sealed Power for 35 years before retiring, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. Ernie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, old car shows, and being with his grandchildren. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Alice F. Haan. SURVIVORS include his wife of 57 years, Alice; 2 children, Dan (Henrietta Fanok) McClatchy of Muskegon, Dee McClatchy of Grand Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Leah, Joey, Hunter, Sydney, Olivia, and Heather; 1 sister, Mary Christian of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Ronald McClatchy. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 7, at 1:00 PM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, 49442, (231) 726-5210, with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
