Ernest Otto Werner Jr.'s Obituary
Ernest Otto Werner, Jr., age 84, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Poppen Residence. He was born February 26, 1934 in Muskegon to Ernest and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Thedorff) Werner. Ernie graduated from Muskegon High School in 1952. He served his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Ernie graduated from the former Muskegon Jr. College and from Western Michigan University. On July 16, 1960, he married the former Dorothy Blush in Muskegon. He was employed as an industrial engineer for the Brunswick Corporation and Howmet and had been an active life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had served as an elder for many years. Ernie was a 15-gallon blood donor and driver for the American Red Cross and also served at the Supper House for Mission for Area People. For about 24 years, he served as statistician for the Muskegon Big Red football team. He was a member of the Lakeside Veterans Club and Vikings Linne’ Lodge #57 and was a long-time loyal supporter of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons, and Michigan State Spartans. SURVIVORS include his wife, Dorothy; children: Wenda Hanna, Daniel Werner, and Gretchen (Rob) Beauleaux; grandchildren: Richard (Michelle) Hanna, Mikayla and Scott Beauleaux; sisters, Peggy Hradsky and Marilyn Jesse; sister-in-law, Connie Musk; brother-in-law, David (April) Blush; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by a brother, John Carl, and brothers-in-law, Mart Hradsky, Leo Jesse, and Edo Musk. A CELEBRATION OF ERNIE’S LIFE will be held 5:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Appold and Pastor Dennis Lassanske officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Trinity Lutheran Church Resurrection Garden.
