"my gosh, Claudia, those pants fit so tight they are like banana peels". We all died laughing when Mrs. VanderKooi said this. Mrs. V was like my second mom in high school and always kept us laughing with her frank honesty. I visited with her about a year ago and enjoyed our talk tremendously. Ernestine was dearly loved by all who knew her. Ern always exuded love to everyone and she and Harry were the perfect couple each fully complimenting the other. They were very faithful to the Chapel and a constant source of encouragement and love. I will never forget their example of always being more concerned about listening to others than talking about themselves. Ernestine had a wonderful sense of humor and was always a perfect & proper lady, host, and friend.
