Ervin S. "Andy" Anderson's Obituary
Mr. Ervin S. “Andy” Anderson, age 91, passed away Wednesday morning, March 16, 2011. He was a life resident of Muskegon, born September 7, 1919 to Alvin and Sadie (Voss) Anderson. As a teen-ager, he supported his family by doing any job he could find, because of his father’s illness. On October 10, 1941 he married the former Leora M. Petersen and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2008. Andy was an U.S. Navy veteran of WW II serving as a Seaman First Class, piloting landing craft. He retired in 1979 from Clark Floor Machine as a Tool Designer and had previously been employed at E.H. Sheldon, Sealed Power, Shaw Crane, The Norge and Muskegon Piston Ring. Following his retirement, he provided maintenance at Babbitt’s Sports Center. Andy had been a Boy Scout leader for three years and enjoyed camping, boating, swimming, traveling, telling jokes, making new things and friends. He also liked to just plain “fix-things” around his home, and for others. He had a “Great Love” for his family; and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was always willing to help his son and daughter with projects they had. SURVIVORS include two children, Pamala R. Babbitt of Norton Shores and Bruce (Valerie) Anderson of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Heidi (Steve) Adams, Edward (Kendra) Babbitt, Jr., Scott (Kelly) Anderson and Brent (Denise) Anderson, all of Muskegon; fifteen great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandsons and two sisters-in-law, Audrey Cavanaugh and Glenna Anderson . Andy was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Edward Babbitt, Sr., brother, Harley Anderson and sister, Arlene June Anderson. FUNERAL SERVICES for Andy will be held 1 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210)with Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Andy’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday.
