Esther G. Killoran's Obituary
Esther G. Killoran, age 99, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at her home. She was born August 25, 1908, in Posen, MI, to Anthony and Julia (Weisel) Nowak. Esther married Frank Killoran on July 10, 1939, in Alpena, MI, and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Killoran moved to Grand Haven in 1992 from New Port Richey, Florida, and was employed by the Michigan Secretary of State’s office. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven where she attended the Tuesday morning Bible study. She was also a member of the Newcomers and an avid golfer. Esther also enjoyed playing bridge. In 1958, while living in Owosso, MI, Esther was voted “Shiawassee County Mother of the Year,” which she described as a highlight of her life.
Survivors include three daughters: Mary (Loren “Bud”) Lothschutz of Grand Haven, Patti (Mike) Burdick of Grand Haven, and Kathleen (Martin) Constable of Fairport, New York; a son, James (Lyn) Killoran of Angola, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille O’Neil of Alpena, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; two sisters, Lillian Fox and Virginia McDonald; five brothers: Walter, David, Julius, Ed, and Chester Nowak; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice and Guardline Nowak.
The service for Esther will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. William Langlois as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Esther’s name may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
