Esther Johanna Boertman's Obituary
Mrs. Esther Johanna Boertman passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 23, 2004 and into the arms of her awaiting loved ones. Esther was born in Ludington, MI on March 5, 1913 to Leander and Johanna (Johnson) Heglund, both of whom emigrated from Finland and now await her in heaven, as well as her 7 brothers and sisters and 8 half-brothers and sisters. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Muskegon. On August 20, 1932, she married Burley James Boertman in Ludington, and they shared 45 years of marriage before his unexpected death in 1977. Together, they raised four daughters, Patricia (Chester) Weaver, who died on January 8, 2002, Barbara (James) Killebrew of Grand Haven, Isabelle (Charles) Hilt of Spring Lake, Karin (Charles) Carlson of Muskegon. Completing the family circle are 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-granddaughter who was the love of her life. She was preceded in death by one grandson. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Julie Winklepleck officiating and Rev. Lewis H. Glick as eulogist.
