Ethel Mae Holtrop's Obituary
Ethel Mae Holtrop, age 98, was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born on March 7, 1927, to Bert and Lydia (Carlson) Williams and remained a lifelong resident of Muskegon. Ethel graduated from Muskegon High School with the Class of 1945 and went on to attend secretarial school. In 1948, she married John Holtrop, and together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. John preceded her in death in 1988. Ethel was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Samuel Lutheran Church. She was a proud and loving mother, always offering unwavering support to her children. Ethel will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her kindness, and her unconditional love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Ethel will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lake; grandson, Randall (Priscilla Cazier) Lake; Aiden; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Holtrop; son, William Holtrop; son-in-law, Daniel Lake; grandson, Adam Lake; and brother, Robert Williams. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions in her honor can be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
