Eudarel C. Bastian's Obituary
Eudarel Conway “Jerry” Bastian, age 88 of Muskegon, died Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Lake Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Muskegon. He was born January 25, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Samuel Shokatz and Rosemary Bastian. He married Doris Hermine Christensen on June 20, 1953. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps from July 1949 until November 1952. After the military, Jerry worked for General Telephone Company (GTE) in Michigan as an engineer. Upon retiring from GTE, he worked for Tellabs in Lisle, Illinois. Jerry had a passion for electronics and owned his own television repair shop as a hobby for most of his adult life. When not fixing televisions, he loved to play poker and bowl in a league. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Doris and his brother, Hobart. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Mike) Szot of Muskegon, Carol (Jeff) Treat of Grand Haven, sons Robert (Nancy) Bastian of Spring Lake and Christopher (Julie) Bastian of New Orleans; eight grandchildren: Michael Szot Jr. (Jaime), Jennifer Newmyer (Josh), Christopher Bastian Jr., Christina Tulgestke (Nick), Kevin Bastian (Sarah), Marcus Treat (Rochelle), Erica Bastian and Lisa Bastian (Keith); thirteen great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Janet Olson of South Haven and Anke Bastain of Goleta, CA. There will be a Private Family Ceremony at Lakeshore Cemetery at 11:30AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 with Military Honors rendered.
