Mr. Eugene "Gene" Wright's Obituary
Mr. Eugene R. “Gene” Wright, 83, passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014, at his home. Gene was born October 17, 1930 to Bert A. and Lena (Franke) Wright in Wall Lake, IA, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1948. He had owned Holiday Foods for 15 years before retiring in 1994, and previously worked at A&P for 25 years. After retirement, Gene worked in security at Mercy Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, was past-president of Cursillo, and was a past board member of St. Francis de Sales. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, shooting pool, and being involved with all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On February 14, 1953 he married Donna Mae Day, and she survives him along with children, Michael E. (Diane) Wright of Wyoming, MI, Daniel J. (Lillian Lee) Wright of Spring Lake, Mary Switzer of Norton Shores, Steven J. (Kristine) Wright of Sparta, William R. (Roxanne) Wright of Grandville, Mark A. Wright of Norton Shores, John F. Wright of Wayland, Hien (Tien) Pham; 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Dale (Doris) Wright of Muskegon. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Angie; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
