Eugene Frank Broge's Obituary
Eugene Frank Broge, age 75, passed away at home, Saturday evening, September 24, 2011 following a long illness. He was born in Stockton, IL on June 14, 1936 to Frank and Verlis (Long) Broge and moved to Muskegon as a child. He graduated from Muskegon H.S. in 1954 and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1956. Mr. Broge was formerly employed at, Smitty’s Beverage, Morton Manufacturing, Clark Floor Machine and Ermanco. He retired in 2001 from Pells. Mr. Broge was a faithful member of the New Heart Community Church, enjoyed tinkering in his garage, spending time with family and his friends from the Mercy Heart Center. Gene is survived by his: wife, Blanche Vanderstelt; seven children, Terry Pierce of N. Muskegon, Danny Pierce of Norton Shores, Loretta Lipe of Brandenberg, KY, Debbie (Waren) Bogner of Ada, MI, Brenda (Zack) Aboumoudriq of Carlsbad, CA, Jacklyn (Don) Moinet of N. Muskegon and Alice (Brian) Doane of Fruitport; brother, Gerald (Pat) Broge of Norton Shores; 17 grandchildren, Shane, Kristina, Melissa, Rebecca, Amanda, Lindsay, Cody, Jessica, Andy, Meriam, Jennifer, Matt, Alyssa, D.J., Kilah, Alex and Tony; and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former spouses, Barbara and JoAnn and a son Roger Pierce. The funeral service will be held at the New Heart Community Church, 1129 Mill Iron Rd, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday with Pastor Ron Amos presiding. Visitation will be held at the: The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100, Tuesday evening, 6-8 P.M. He will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Rites under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veteran.
