Eugene "Gene" Farr's Obituary
Mr. Eugene “Gene” Farr, age 82, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 22, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born on November 11, 1922 in Thompsonville, MI to Morgan and Pearl (Ross) Farr and has been a resident of Muskegon for most of his life. Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in WWII. Geno, as his work friends knew him, was employed by the Paper Mill for 30 years before retiring in 1988. Mr. Farr was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and had previously attended Faith Reformed Church. Gene enjoyed photography, health fitness, hunting, fishing, nature and the outdoors. On June 27, 1944, Gene married the former Arline Kirby and she preceded him in death on September 24, 1995. He is survived by 4 children, Bonnie (Don) Vokits, David Farr, Deanna (John) Moseley, Janet (Tom) Bogue; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Clarabell (Richard) Woirol, Violet Harpman, and Olive Pollice. He was also preceded in death by 1 great-granddaughter, Emily Jayne VanderVelde; his parents; 1 sister, Pearl Spencer; and 1 brother, Morgan Farr. Services will be 11AM Monday at Lakeside Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565. Interment will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Mr. Farr’s name to Lakeside Baptist Church would be appreciated.
