Eugene K. Goodrich's Obituary
Mr. Eugene K. Goodrich, age 82, went to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning, October 13, 2004. He was born in Traverse City, MI on December 1, 1921, to Glenn and Pearl (Christiansen) Goodrich and moved to Muskegon as a teenager. Mr. Goodrich served in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by Kaydon Corporation as an electrician for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. Mr. Goodrich umpired little league baseball, was a member of the Old Newsboys for over 32 years, and was involved with the Parents Organization of the Maycroft Square Tappers. He was a communicant of St. Francis deSales Parish for 35 years and an usher for 20 years. In 1998, he became a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. On September 25, 1948, he married the former Alice M. Sell and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Jeanne (Dale) Grelewicz of Twin Lake, Jennifer (John) VanHassel of Fruitport; 2 sons, Gary Goodrich of Plainwell, David Goodrich of Whitehall; 1 daughter-in-law, Lisa George of North Muskegon; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Jane Snyder of Englewood, FL, Marjorie Sell of Muskegon; 1 brother-in-law, James (Ann) Sell of Kalamazoo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Dennis Goodrich in 1994; and 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Timothy) Purcell in 1976. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David LeBlanc officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 759-8565, and from 9-10AM Saturday morning at church.
