Eugene "Mitch" Mitchell's Obituary
Mr. Eugene “Mitch” Mitchell, age 85, of Nunica passed away Monday, February 14, 2011, at home. He was born November 19, 1925, in Orleans, MI, to Mr. And Mrs. Frank C. Mitchell.
Mitch retired as a Colonel in the US Army. He was a fowler of birds and loved raising and trading all different kinds of birds. He also enjoyed numismatics and was known as a coin expert. He enjoyed buying and selling cars and also refurbishing any and everything.
Mitch married his war bride, Rose, and she preceded him in death many years ago. In 1975, he married Dona Weddle and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2006. He is survived by Dona’s children: Mike (MaryAnn) Green of South Lyon, Gail Green of Ann Arbor, Deborah (Tim) Pless of Spring Lake, Robin (Brent) Garrison of Spring Lake, Delores Green of Grand Rapids, and Mark Mitchell of Nunica; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends and neighbors George and June Kirschbaum. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers during WWII, Harold and Herbert Mitchell.
A memorial visitation will be held 4-7 PM Thursday, February 17, 2011, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorial contributions in honor of Mitch may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
