Eunice D. "June" Medema's Obituary
Mrs. Eunice D. “June” Medema, age 92, went to be with her Lord on Thursday morning, May 26, 2016, in Muskegon. She was born November 4, 1923 in Ferrysburg, MI to Abel and Kathryn (Rosema) Holtrop; and moved to Muskegon in 1944, where she has since resided. June was a long-time member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church where she formerly sang in the choir, was a member of Lydia Guild, Mary-Martha Society and also served as a Calvinette Counselor. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Dr. R.J. Fles, Doctors Harryman & Jesson and Doctors Wayne and Nancy Brenneman. Following retirement, June enjoyed winters in Florida with her sisters, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, the “Happy-Hatters”, reading and shopping. In 1945, she married Peter R. Medema; and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Charles and Richard Medema; sisters, Marguerite Dornbos and Ella Mae Albertie and brothers, Donald, Claus and Dr. Robert Holtrop. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Patricia and husband Douglas Prince of Muskegon, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Medema of Bowie, MD; 6 grandchildren, Adam (Jordan) Prince, Anissa (Matthew) Koekkoek, Samantha, Caroline, Benjamin and Patrick Medema; 6 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren Prince, Hunter and Kennedi Koekkoek, Dylan and Brody Hoffman; “in-laws”, Nancy Holtrop of Carmel, CA; Clarence and Ilene Medema of Spring Lake; and by many nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444 (231-798-1100) with the Rev. Ben Oliveira officiating. VISITATION with June’s family will be 12:30 – 1:00 PM, prior to the service. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
