Eva Jean Jensen's Obituary
Eva “Jean” Jensen, age 88, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Lake Woods Living Center. She was born June 6, 1935 in Muskegon to Alton D. and Dorothy A. (DeMars) Forward and was a lifelong resident of the area. Jean married Elgie M. Jensen in Muskegon on April 13, 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1998. She worked over 30 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Hackley Hospital and retired in 1998. Jean was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was active with CAST, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and attended the bible studies. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Sierra Club of Greater Muskegon. Jean was also active with the Orchard View Travelers and loved attending dinners at the Polish Falcons Lodge. She taught ceramics and enjoyed artwork, knitting and sewing. In her younger days, she also played for the Muskegon Lassies Professional Ladies Baseball League. Survivors include 6 children, Alton (Melanie) Jensen, Deborah (Wayne) Caveney, Terry (Ruby) Jensen, Tammi (Arnold) Lankford, Kelli (Kelly) Loughrige, Staci (Jeffrey) Nieboer; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ted (Lynn) Forward; and her cat, Diamond. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgie Jensen; her parents; 3 brothers and 6 sisters; and grandson Patrick Caveney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken St, Norton Shores, MI 49441, with Rev. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass at church on Wednesday.
