Evelyn "Ev" L. Christenson's Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn “Ev” Leona Christenson, age 92, went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She was born on October 31, 1927 in Muskegon to Cornelius and Margaret (VanDuinen) Ham, and was a life resident of Muskegon. Since 1953, Ev was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon, and was involved in the church food pantry for over 20 years. She also was a board member of the Bethany Housing Ministries, and worked at both the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, and Muskegon County Clerk’s office for 15 years. On August 22, 1950, Ev married Lyle Christenson. Ev was involved in her husband’s photography studio for 40 years prior to him passing away in 1997. SURVIVORS include four children, Dan (Joan) Christenson, Mark Christenson, Lois (Bob) Huizenga, and Jim Christenson; six grandchildren, Diane (Scott) Seth, Bill (Sarah) Christenson, Christian and Katie Christenson, Max and Anna Christenson; two great grandchildren, Tara and Derek Seth; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rita Harris. Ev was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Ham; and sisters, Beatrice Poel and Doris Ham. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Monday, February 17, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be 2-5 PM Sunday, February 16, 2020 also at The Lee Chapel, and 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery.
