Mrs. Evelyn R. Peterman's Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn R. Peterman, 94, went to be with her Lord, Friday evening May 19, 2017. Evelyn was born May 12, 1923 to Henry and Hattie (Brouwer) Mast in Drenthe, MI, and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Christian Care for many years, and volunteered for the Muskegon Rescue Mission and International Aide. Evelyn was a longtime member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, where she sang in the choir and belonged to Mary Martha. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren. Evelyn was married to George Peterman, and he passed away on January 21, 1998. She is survived by 3 children, Marcia (John) Fultz, Wayne D. (Judy) Peterman, Douglas J. (Lyn) Peterman; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Erwin (Alnora) Mast, John (Myra) Mast, Jr.; 1 sister-in-law, Joyce Mast. Evelyn was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harold and Rufus Mast; 1 sister, Mae Mast; and 1 grandson-in-law, Kendall Brazley. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Benjamin Oliveira officiating. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday evening, May 22. You may visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
