Evelyn Jean Shafer's Obituary
Evelyn Jean Shafer, age 72, of Twin Lake passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at a local care facility. She was born November 27, 1940 in Grand Haven to Harold Clarence and Gertrude (Heinz) George.
She was employed as a District Court Clerk with the City of Grand Rapids. Evelyn was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids and currently attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven where she sang in the church choir. When she was able she enjoyed bowling in various leagues, traveling, crocheting, and knitting.
Evelyn is lovingly remembered by 2 daughters, Christine (Alan) Ackley of Lakeview, and Samantha (Terry) Phillipo of Twin Lake; 2 sons, John Shafer of Ferry, and Kevin Shafer of Shelby; and 6 grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beverly George; and her brother, Harold “Joe” George.
A Memorial Service for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 21, 2013, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Dieter Haupt officiating.
