Mrs. Evelyn Eileen Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn Eileen Thompson, age 83, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2016, surrounded by family. Evelyn was born February 6, 1933 in Pentwater to Willard and Nellie (Wilder) English. On December 26, 1951, she married Jack Leslie Thompson and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1996. Evelyn was an artist who enjoyed painting, and was also a wonderful seamstress who helped many people out over the years. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family, and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Leslie “Les” Alan (Betty) Thompson of Huntsville, AL and Brenda Lynn (Steven) Gemzer of Muskegon; grandchildren, Scott and Daniel Thompson, Eric and Chad Gemzer; a brother, Gerald (Trudy) Sibley of Hart; sisters, Donna Lupini of Hart, Maxine Rice of Kent City, Mary (Thurlow) Stagner of Montague; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl, George, and Jim English; and sisters, Esther Novisky and Grace Eyestone. A Funeral Service will be held 1PM Wednesday, May 18,2016, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Bonnie Johnson of the Bahai Faith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (12noon-1PM). Interment will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Harbor Hospice.
