Evelyn M. Strong's Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn M. Strong, age 91, died Monday, September 4, 2006 in Whitehall. She was born on May 24, 1915 in Muskegon to David and Jennie (Krapp) Reck, and had lived in the Muskegon area all of her life. She was a former member of Crestwood United Methodist Church, and involved in their choir and senior fellowship for many years, and currently a member of Montague United Methodist Church. Mrs. Strong was co-owner of Strong’s Jewelry in Muskegon, and had previously worked at Amazon Company. She also volunteered at Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana. On June 25, 1937, she married Robert Strong in Jackson, MI, and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1987. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Nathan (Kay) Strong of Montague, and Terry (Rachel) Strong of Saugatuck, MI; 6 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Mrs. Strong was also preceded in death by 1 son, David Allen Strong on May 24, 1944, 1 brother, William John Reck; and 2 sisters, Harriet Hilton and Marion VanOrman. SERVICES will be 2 PM Saturday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave.231-726-5210 with Rev. Gary Bekofske officiating. VISTATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Friday, and 1 hour prior to the service, from 1-2 PM. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Harbor Hospice (formerly Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana) will be appreciated.
