Everett "Mark" Goyings' Obituary
Everett “Mark” Markwood Goyings, Jr., 84, passed away Friday, August 4th. He was born March 31, 1939, to Everett Markwood and Laura Rose (Terwillegar) Goyings in Fremont, MI. Mark has resided in the Muskegon area for most of his life. After high school he served in the United States Air Force. Mark was a member of the American Legion Post 9. Upon exiting the Air Force Mark entered the workforce in the Heating and Cooling trade, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Mark enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, camping and supporting his son Scott and grandson Andy in the auto racing circuit at dirt tracks for several years. In most recent years Mark enjoyed watching and attending many events of his grandchildren such as: dance recitals and sporting events. “Big Grandpa” was their biggest Fan! Mark also liked spending time with his poodle “Maggie.” Even up to his final days he was as social as ever and could keep people laughing and feeling loved. He married Jeanine Frens on February 13, 1965, in Grand Ledge, MI. Mark and Jeanine were married for 48 years, she preceded him in death on August 30, 2013. He is survived by significant other Judy Aguilar (aka Honeybun); sons: Scott (Denise) Goyings, Michael (Holly) Goyings; grandchildren: Andy (Jenna) Goyings, Trena (Brodey) Gould, Alisha (Mike) Powers, Ezekial (Brittany) Goyings, Henry, and Araya; great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Chase, Liam, Luna, Aurora, and Kevin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Christine, brothers Ed, Lloyd, and Tom, sisters Juanita and Nancy. Visitation at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mark may be made to his family.
